ignitia is thrilled to announce the ignitia Climate Tech Hackathon, a
collaborative event aimed at bringing together technology, agribusiness,
policy experts, and brilliant minds to tackle some of the most urgent global
challenges. Our primary objective is to leverage the power and potential of
state-of-the-art climate technology within our communities, addressing the
impacts of extreme weather events, evolving pest and disease patterns, and
other climate change shocks that adversely affect local communities,
farmers, agribusinesses, and livelihoods.
The hackathon will gather passionate and creative minds from across West Africa,
harnessing the power of the most accurate weather forecasting data in the tropics to
create impactful solutions for local communities.
Participants will have the opportunity to tackle real-world challenges in agriculture and disaster risk reduction by utilizing ignitia's weather and climate data API.
Participants will be given 48 hours to solve a climate challenge for their community. During this period, they will work collaboratively to develop innovative solutions that leverage ignitia's data and technology.
The hackathon combines teamwork and mentorship in a supportive environment. Participants will have the opportunity to form diverse teams either applying as an existing team, or individuals grouped into teams by ignitia.

Ignitia will provide access to mentors and support, to give feedback and provide technical support.
At the end of the 48-hour timeframe, participants will present judges with a mockup (e.g., Figma or sketch) and a working prototype (e.g., App) of their solution. These deliverables will showcase the functionality and potential impact of their ideas.
A panel of judges will assess the solutions presented by participants. The participants with the highest scores will receive prizes, including cash awards and a license to use ignitia's data to power their solution.
Solutions developed during the hackathon may include predictive analytics, smart decision support systems, precision agriculture tools, and initiatives aimed at empowering farmers.
