How it Works

The hackathon will gather passionate and creative minds from across West Africa,
harnessing the power of the most accurate weather forecasting data in the tropics to
create impactful solutions for local communities.

Challenge
Areas

Participants will have the opportunity to tackle real-world challenges in agriculture and disaster risk reduction by utilizing ignitia's weather and climate data API.

48-Hour
Timeframe

Participants will be given 48 hours to solve a climate challenge for their community. During this period, they will work collaboratively to develop innovative solutions that leverage ignitia's data and technology.

Teamwork

The hackathon combines teamwork and mentorship in a supportive environment. Participants will have the opportunity to form diverse teams either applying as an existing team, or individuals grouped into teams by ignitia.

A panel of judges will assess the solutions presented by participants. The participants with the highest scores will receive prizes, including cash awards and a license to use ignitia's data to power their solution.

Participants should possess relevant technical skills such as programming, data analysis, hardware development, or other skills specific to the theme of the hackathon.

We encourage participants from diverse backgrounds, including developers, engineers, designers, scientists, entrepreneurs, and sustainability enthusiasts.

How to Apply?

  1. Send your expression of interest (EOI) and CV to participate in this in this Hackathon through our form.
  2. Please indicate in your EOI whether you are applying as a team or individual. we encourage applications as a team and accept individual applications that are open to be grouped with other bright minds into working groups by ignitia and partners.
  3. Sign-up until 10th of Nov.
  4. We’ll select 10-12 teams based on the potential we identify in their ideas and motivation. While individual applications are welcome, we’ll also assist in forming teams by matching individuals with compatible skills and interests.
  5. Notification by 14th of Nov.
  6. Hackathon on 21st and 22nd of Nov.
  7. Location: Kosmos Innovation Center, Accra, Ghana
